Fishing reel repair

Timeline: Summer 2020

I was given a very noisy old fishing reel. I took it apart to clean out the 60-year-old grease, and lubricate it with new grease. This is very simple but rather interesting due to the many interesting small parts in a vintage reel.

Cover and handle removed
Gear and metal arm removed
All the parts

These were all washed with soap and water, and if necessary, some brake cleaner. The bearing was re-packed, and all the parts were greased with Super Lube and reassembled. The noise issue was resolved.
I have taken apart a newer reel before, and was therefore impressed by the quality of parts in this older reel as well as the overall relative simplicity of its mechanism.
