Timeline: Summer 2020
I was given a very noisy old fishing reel. I took it apart to clean out the 60-year-old grease, and lubricate it with new grease. This is very simple but rather interesting due to the many interesting small parts in a vintage reel.
These were all washed with soap and water, and if necessary, some brake cleaner. The bearing was re-packed, and all the parts were greased with Super Lube and reassembled.
The noise issue was resolved.
I have taken apart a newer reel before, and was therefore impressed by the quality of parts in this older reel as well as the overall relative simplicity of its mechanism.
